EV Chargers Add Measurable Value to Home Sales, But Real Estate Data Says Skip the Hype

Homes listed with an EV charger sell for 1.5% more than comparable homes without one, according to Zillow Research data cited in a new report from Car Charger Specialists, the Metro Atlanta-based EV charging installation company.

The report analyzes real estate data across North Georgia, Metro Atlanta, and high-adoption markets including California, Washington, and Colorado. It arrives as EV charging is surging as a listed home feature.

According to Realtor.com's 2025 Home Trends Report, mentions of EV charging in U.S. property listings jumped 91.6% year over year, landing the feature in the top five fastest-rising amenities in the country.

Despite the momentum, Car Charger Specialists cautions homeowners against over-relying on industry estimates that claim value boosts of 3.3% to 7%, or anywhere from $10,000 to $17,000 in added resale value.

The reason the real number is difficult to pin down is partly a correlation problem. Homes with EV chargers may also have updated electrical panels and other upgrades that independently contribute to a higher sale price.

For North Georgia and Metro Atlanta homeowners, the value premium is real but modest compared to high-adoption states. Georgia homeowners are advised to treat a professionally installed Level 2 charger, which typically costs between $800 and $2,500, as part of a broader home-quality story rather than a guaranteed return on investment.
